Dear ladies and gentlemen, comrades, followers of the leftist ideas,
We would never dare to introduce you to our own inter-party dramatic events, as we know well that the inside every party there is fighting for ideas and causes. What happened inside the BSP /the Bulgarian Socialist Party/ lately is something that casts extremely serious suspicion upon the leftist identity of the BSP on one hand, and its leader’s level of common sense. He is a leader, obsessed for the last half of the year by the only idea how to become a Chairman of PES; in the name of this personal goal of his, he is ready to violate party norms and principles that are hundred years aged.
This letter should not be treated as a compromising material.
It should serve as a warning.
The last scandal, which blew up not only in the leftist field in Bulgaria, but in the society as a whole, was as the straw that broke the camel’s back.
“I have been claiming for a long time that socialism has something in common with the AIDS. AIDS is usually a hereditary disease or it is transmitted via unprotected sexual intercourse. In our Party it is a common practice for the new members to become socialists simply because they are heirs to their fathers.”
These words belong to the BCP media secretary Anton Kutev and he pronounced them a week ago. The cynical character of these phrases caused unseen indignation in the leftist ranks in Bulgaria. The Bulgarian left-wing movement has 120 years of history behind itself. During this period of time, thousands of people have spilled their blood in the name of the leftist ideas, they have dreamed for a better world, they have sacrificed their lives for sacred ideals, they have devoted their efforts and bones to make Bulgaria a different country.
And today a person who has been appointed for socialist, a person with no real working biography and with a suspicious education has ruined all this with a phrase, that he determined later as “a joke”.
Could it be called a joke to spit at the faces of the people?
Could it be called a joke to insult the ideas of the people?
Is it funny to compare the members of a Party with an infectious disease?
It is probably such a sophisticated sense of humor, that only the poor masochists can understand it.
The unseen cynicism of this statement has shocked the ordinary socialists. Facebook literally erupted with angry comments.
The statement of Kutev had been supported only by three or four party apparatus employees and several young careerists. No one else degraded to the extent to try to defend the hypocrisy and the cynicism, represented as a political point of view.
Later it turned out that a strong lobby stays behind our “comrade” Kutev. The lobbyist proved to be the PES candidate for Chairman Sergei Stanishev. This young person is in the condition of permanent split of personality. What you can see on the surface is only his polished European image.
In Europe Stanishev speaks skillfully, using all the leftist clichés, he behaves there in a diligent, stiff and tedious way.
In Bulgaria, the same person is obsessed by the idea to defend his ruling position to the utmost. And instead of calling for the resignation of the person who humiliated the leftist values, he defended him in a special declaration.
Even more. The BSP leader threatened all the people expressing different opinion, that he is going to hold them responsible for their opinion.
Obviously, on the territory of Bulgaria Stanishev plays as Gestapo boss. And this sounds logical. As his right hand treats the socialists as AIDS infected, it is logical that the boss treats himself as concentration camp chief in command.
Nobody counts the fact that
he smashed all the leftist principleshe killed the democracy in the Partyhe liquidated the motivation of many young people to become Socialist Party members
Stanishev does not like ideas, he likes the power.
We did have a lot of doubts and questions, but we decided, that Sergei Stanishev’s candidacy for PES Chairman is beneficial for Bulgaria, not only for BSP. We must have been wrong. After such a declaration, our doubts have increased, and the prevailing opinion now is that the candidacy is in fact harmful.
You should think about this in the autumn, when you will have to vote for the PES leader.
Do you want to have for a leader of the European left wing a person, who does not respect the leftist ideas and supports a person, who compared the socialism to AIDS?
Do you want for a leader of the European left wing a person, whose mind is so much obscured by apparatus’ games, that he is ready to annihilate his own Party in order to take hold of the rule upon all of you?
Do you feel like having PES ruled by a person, who foisted a strict right-wing state policy for his mandate as Prime-minister?
Can you imagine a leftist Europe as a project, being imposed upon by a presumptuous politician, who has not won any election since 2007?
At present it is only the left wing that is capable to give alternative to Europe. Only the leftist ideas are capable to find the way for the European Union out of the heavy right-wing crisis and to find the future for the whole continent. And now the leftist ideas are threatened to be ruled by a trembling with egoism and voluptuousness hand of a person, who obviously has never been a devoted socialist.
Can you imagine what a pain it causes to us to write down all this!
Only it will not be correct for us to leave the European left wing into the paws of a person with suspicious values and qualities.
A person who defended the scandal and refused to correct the irregularities in his Party.
If you prefer to have PES becoming a senseless organization, a hollow and trite structure, it means that you have discovered your candidate. A candidate, who declared in front of all the Bulgarians, that he does not care about them.
The only thing he cares about is the power.
The power only.
We hope on a different Europe.
We hope on a different PES.
