/Pogled.info/ An open letter from Rumen Petkov, chief editor of www.pogled.info to Bernie Sanders, candidat for president of USA

Dear Mr. Sanders,

I almost called you instead of the neutral „mister“, comrade. Comrade is a word, which was deliberatly demonized. There are parts of the world elite which start to tremble when the ordinary people start to feel as comrades.

What is so bad about this?

That the poor will finally understand that they are deliberatly divided, so they may not state their interest?

In one destroyed society, in a world filled with the maddness of billionaires and experiments, probably nobody feels as a comrade to his neighbor. They, the rich, are aiming for this- the poor, hating each other, as the ruling class is setting her dark rules.

Dear Mr. Sanders,

I feel you as my comrade, because in your words I, the Bulgarian recognize myself. Your campaign for president is oriented around theAmerican people, but the problems which you reveal are global. These are not the problems of a single nation, but rather of the poor, hopeless and the outsiders on the entire planet. This is the reason why I decided to write the open letter. I want you to know, that this battle is not only for the United States, your battle is for a different world. The stakes are high and every person, whose hearts beats with restless pulse of a desired change is on your side, mister Sanders.

I come from a little country, which can hardly be found on the map of Europe especially for Americans. But for the first time in many years from USA comes something positive, something different, something which makes every human soul excited and furtively tries to believe, that change is possible even there- in the heart of the financial darkness, in the capital of the bloated billionaires, in the dark empire of obsessed geopolitical imperialists. I am not trying to insult your country, I am insulting the political elites, whichscrewed upthe whole world in the name of megaoligarchic interest, an endless thirst for oil, and a desire to look at the world as a grand chessboard, where they have all the pieces.

Mister Sanders, let me tell you something about Bulgaria and how the image of USA here became symbol of selfish interest, not democracy. We are a country, which went through a period of 45 years under totalitarian governance, but during this time the Bulgarians were probably one of the most pro-American nations in Europe. Our conclusions about the United States came not from the speeches of Nixon, but from the novels of Dreiser, Vonnegut, Hemingway, Caldwell, Faulkner... And so, we came up with another image of USA- a country of values and freedom, a state in which everyone has a chance to succeed.

What happened to this dream?

Who killed it?

In my country I know who killed it- the American political interfernce in our domestic political life. At one point, in front of the stunned Bulgarian population which had the idea, that USA are a country of the good, the American ambassadors started to act as the only governing force. The American money bought the intelectual conscience of our nation, and tried to replace the foundation of the national view. In front of our eyes came this disgusting imperial image of the United States, for which we were alerted, but we thought it was an illusion. And after the occupation of Iraq, and the crazy war against terror it became clear, that we see an empire who wants to hide itself from this image, and is prepared to put on a mask for the sake of this purpose.

Mister Sanders, when I heard your speeches I understood something, which I may have forgotten. The imperial interest of one country and its arrogant corporate elite, first destroy the social interest of its own citizens. It was not hard to realize, that this suicidal policy of USA makes its people suffer, because they see how in front of their eyes the state becomes a greedy monster, which wants to feed them with GMO food, which destroys its nature with drilling for shale gaz and murderes its middle class, this idealistic class which the whole world wants.

This world is not just, it is in the hands of a handfull of pathetic maniacs thinking, that their rules can really stop history, and every idea for change can be taken away with force from the consciousness of the people. And that,s why your battle for different United States of America is a battle of every progressive human being on this planet. The inequality of this world gets, day to day, demonic sizes. The class of the billionaires (thank you for the exact words) tramples the interests of the whole planet, in order to gain enormous amount of capital. Today, more than ever, democracy looks fake and phony, because we ostensibly care about where this planet goes to, but in the end, its destiny is determined by the brothers Koch and other moguls of the American oligarchy. This is a wicked closed circle which, sooner or later, will destroy itself by the force of its own inner conflicts.

Mister Sanders, I wish you luck in your fight! But I think, that your success is alreadyaccomplished! I read how the American right wants Hilary Clinton as the democractic nominee, not you, because it,s clear- the status quo wants another status quo. The status quo will be demolished by radical change. And probably they will pour cash into Hilary,s campaign. She will speak gentle words, but we all know that those, who really want change believe in you. Your success isaccomplished, because you turned against the biggest taboos in American politics, and gave to „socialism“ new meaning. You also gave new meaning to the idea, that if one government doesn,t have social functions and doesn,t think about the poorest and the outsiders, this is not a government, but a bat in the hands of the superwealthy.

Besides being explained this world can be changed, said Carl Marx, and I think, that we are in a such phase. History demands from us change, because capitalism becomes more extravagant and its paid intelectuals go blind, unable to see the problem. My own country became victim of the reckless capitalism, cynic oligarchs, political parties with no social roots and today we live in almost living right uthopy. My country is the poorest in EU, there are no perspecitve for development and this is, unfortunately, result of American interfernce. That is why I watch yourcampaignwith such excitment and understanding- if you change USA, maybe the world won,t be such dark place, living on the edge of madness.

My idea might uthopic, but for me it is important, that there is one American who speaks openly about the problems.

Mister Sanders, you may be one new hope for the left, which goes through ideological crisis in Europe and is shaken by its inablillity to give alternative to the neoliberal order. You know what happened with Greece - SYRIZA tried to fly, but was crushed before it managed to formulate its fragile revolution against the fascist dictatorship of the banks, and the global financial elite. The left needs new hope for a different world. Because if she fails in its mission, there will be a revolution- not of the aware, but of the hungry and desperate, and it will finish with blood and tears.

I apologize for the spilled and emotional words!

For me it is important, that I found new hope for change in this world and I believe, that I won,t be fooled!

And until a human being carries a flame in his heart, there always will be an opportunity to find other people, who are not reconciled. Today we need a global union of irreconcilable!

In you I found a comrade in ideas, political view and wish for a change. I will always thank the fate for this.

I wish you to rock the status quo!

I wish you to be the light of a different future, which may give the Americans social security and return toprosperity!

I wish you to stay consistent, full of ideas and be real!

OneBulgarian stands behind your cause!

I am sure, others will too!!!

Sincerely Yours,

Rumen Petkov,
